Tony Blair: Another high-profile Convert?
I've been hearing this for years, but it seems Tony Blair is closer to coming into the Church. The British Prime minister steps down next week and seems to be planning on coming into the Roman Catholic Church shortly after. His wife and children are all Catholic, but it would be interesting to hear his reasons. It's good to continuously see this stream of people back to the Church founded by Jesus Christ.
God bless,
Jay

This raises a non-so-hypothetical question:
If a pro-abortion politician desires to enter the Roman Catholic Church, but he cannot licitly receive communion can he formally enter the church in a way that does not involve taking communion?
It almost seems that a pro-abortion Catholic politician who stops taking communion still remains Catholic - but a pro-abortion non-Catholic cannot even enter. But perhaps there is another visible way into the Church which does not involve partaking of the Eucharist?

He may become a Catholic in Jerusalem. We will wait and see, as he will be spending weeks on end in that city in the coming months. The Church of England has a wonderful English speaking congregation there - the RCC doesn't, however, so he may not turn Catholic just yet.
Blair's support of Bush's Middle East policies was done to further strenthen U.S.-English relations in the world. I believe that goal was accomplished. We, along with the Aussies, are brothers in arms and fighting against numerous foes. The Brits help the Americans keep history in mind, as we in the U.S. tend to dismiss history has being without relevance. History repeats itself, as we see in this strategic disaster in Iraq, which was promoted by Israel Firsters in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Washington. Our foreign policy system failed - we let a foreign power manipulate a vulnerable, inexperienced, and overconfident President Bush. Blair went along because the U.S. finally supported Churchill in Europe against the Germans. Brits remember. Americans forget.
Blair will be a good envoy, as Israelis and Palestinians only have respect for brutal warriors, regardless of what they may tell you. Both peoples do not understand any language besides that of moral terror, unfortunetly. It seems that in order to accomplish anything with Israelis and Palestinians (especially Israelis!), third parties must be able to inflict seriuos pain on those who don't go along with the peace plan. So, if Blair plans to become a more a Catholic and less a pain-inflicting realist, looks like "Middle East peace" won't happen anytime soon. Blair won't be alone, the Jews drove Moses crazy as well.
