Islam and apologetics

Just wanted to point out an interesting story about the murder of someone criticizing Islam. The article isn't complete, but apparently the guy was pointing out the problems of Islam on a message board. He received death threats, but continued his criticisms. They found his family murdered in their own home last week.

I'm one of those who believes this is more than a fight against a few extremists - I still have heard very little criticism of 9/11 terrorists from any mainstream Muslim leaders. This is ultimately a clash of civilizations or cultures. The difficulty lies in the refusal of Muslims to allow discussions; in fact, they won't allow any opposition to their beliefs as this story shows.

Please pray for the family and for the world.

God bless,
Jay

First I have to stress that it hasn't been proven to be a religiously motivated crime. Police have noted that valuables had been removed from the home.

However, the crime has all the hallmarks of a hate crime or crime of passion. How many burglars having a family tied up and powerless go on to butcher them? If it was up to me to decide, I would say that yes, this does look like a hate crime and the valuables were stolen either to throw police off the trail or in order to fund further terrorist activities. I dont think that the police should be fooled.

As has been already noted, muslims are adamantly opposed to any real criticsm of islam and demand that they define the parameters of respectful dialouge. Any discussion with muslims comparing our two faiths have to be strictly circumscribed. No criticism of the behavior of islams founder is allowed. No question of his character can be discussed without inflaming muslim passions and ending any debate. In order to discuss religion with them at all one is forced to pretend as if articles of islamic theology were a given. One is not allowed to question the most basic underlying assumptions of that faith.

This is the secret of islams success throughout history. It is a faith that operates by the rules of the fallen world. It is a faith which wins any way that it can. In fact, winning at whatever cost, is what their founder commanded them to do and his example demonstrates this clearly. Islam is successful because they have no principle against cheating, lying, oppressing, enforcing, or murdering in order to succeed and then following up every unsavory victory with lawyerly hairsplitting and misdirection.

Its no accident that everytime islams founder committed or approved of an act that was clearly immoral by any standards that he suddenly received a verse of the koran which justified his actions retrospectively. muslims have been following the same pattern ever since.

The church may be composed of flawed and even evil human beings at some times and in some places. Church history is filled with records of horrors committed by Christians, sometimes in the name of Christ. But there is one central fact which cannot be explained away. Christ was perfectly and consistently moral. Because of him the Church has always and will always re-orient itself when it goes astray. The standard does not change according to situation or temptation or perception as it does in islam. Our standard never changes. Christ is our solid rock. This truth is so valuable that we must continue to speak truth to error no matter the cost to ourselves and God will know the difference. He will not allow us to fail if we remain true.
