Before you Vote, Pray

I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live. - - Deuteronomy 30:19
Ultimately in elections, countries get what they deserve (see the Old Testament). The conscience of a nation pushes us in one direction or another. Pray that God would not only allow you to cast the correct ballot, but that he would also lead others to do otherwise.

And remember that the unborn have no one to protect their lives, unless you choose to take it upon yourself. Choose wisely . . .

God bless,
Jay

Indeed Jay!

Ultimately countries do get what they deserve – i.e. what they vote for. But with the election of the President of the United States, the entire world reaps either a bounty or whirlwind. Unfortunately, it is the vast majority of people on the earth that reap the whirlwind.

Pray! Pray indeed before you vote – that G-d will give you an authentic & faithful vision for the nurturing of a Culture of Life in the womb of G-d’s creation.

Some biblical texts to reflect on before entering the polls:

Exodus 22:22;
You shall not abuse any widow or orphan.

Deut. 10:17-19a;
For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who is not partial and takes no bribe, who executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and who loves the strangers, providing them food and clothing. 1You shall also love the stranger

Deut. 27:19;
"Cursed be anyone who deprives the alien, the orphan, and the widow of justice." All the people shall say, "Amen!"

Psalm 94:3-6;
O LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked exult? They pour out their arrogant words; all the evildoers boast. They crush your people, O LORD, and afflict your heritage. They kill the widow and the stranger, they murder the orphan…

Isaiah 1:16-17;
Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow.

Jeremiah 22:3;
Thus says the LORD: Act with justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor anyone who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the alien, the orphan, and the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place.

Zechariah 7:8-12;
The word of the LORD came to Zechariah, saying: Thus says the LORD of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another; do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another. 1But they refused to listen, and turned a stubborn shoulder, and stopped their ears in order not to hear. 1They made their hearts adamant in order not to hear the law and the words that the LORD of hosts had sent by his spirit through the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from the LORD of hosts.

Isaiah 56:1;
Thus says the LORD: Maintain justice, and do what is right, for soon my salvation will come, and my deliverance be revealed.

Genesis 4:9;
“Am I my brother’s keeper?”

Micah 6:8;
He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Choose humbly. Choose prayerfully!
