John Kerry and Truth
The more I see of John Kerry, the less I feel I can vote for the man. What it boils down to is this: either you believe murder is wrong and life begins at conception or you don't. It is impossible to say that you believe in both of these, but you aren't willing to stop abortion. By making these statements, we see that John Kerry has no objective moral truth, no real backbone. He is merely using religion as a tool to get votes, rather than something he really believes. This is despicable.
In the end, I am reminded of Jesus telling us to be either hot or cold, but not lukewarm. Kerry should either say, "I am not Catholic" or should start acting like a faithful Catholic. Just. Make. A. Choice.
By the way, the Curt Jester bring us this:

As Catholics, rather than simply trying to remove George Bush from office (the reason many people I know want to vote Kerry), we need to make sure we are voting for the right person. At least George Bush has gotten several pro-life initiatives passed. Imagine what Kerry would do.
God bless,
Jay

John Kerry said today he believes life begins at conception. I applaud his change of heart, if it really is one. Based on what I know about Kerry is that he has been on both sides of about every issue. This one is no different. He has made several statements in the past about life not beginning at conception. He also voted against the partial birth abortion ban last year. And this guy now wants us to believe he is the champion against abortion? Get real. Personally, I am sticking with Bush simply because his stances on issues such as abortion liken to mine. I feel he takes a stance and sticks with it rather than change his opinion to match the views of the electorate. I have decided to look beyond the fact that Kerry is Catholic before I blindly cast my vote. I hope others who share my faith do as well.
God Bless!

Posted by: S Savage at July 16, 2004 11:27 AMLife begins before conception; the sperm is alive, so is the egg. But when does the fetus become "human", not just biologically homo sapiens? I believe it becomes human and deserving of protection when there are sustained brain waves, ordinarily about the end of the 6th month of pregnancy. (The presence of sustained brain waves is the basis of 'quickening'.) Brain death (flat line; no brain waves) is accepted as defining death in all 50 states; brain birth, defined as the presence of sustained brain waves, should determine fully human status.
Posted by: Karl Albert at August 9, 2004 03:07 PMI disagree Karl. Being proceeds action. The fundamental elements of the human person are present at the moment of conception...period. The formation of the body is occurring from the very beginning and that development cannot result in anything other than a human being.
I also believe that your argument completely ignores that spiritual aspect of the human person which is typically know as the soul. Since creation of a human person involves a direct miracle on the part of God, in that the soul is fully united with the body, your argument cannot be valid. The human person is not simply another mammal.

Alright folks think on this.
Geoge Bush is for the death penalty, and at the same time he is against abortion.
How can he have it both ways?
This makes more since to me...
Kerry opposes the death penalty.
Kerry is pro choice and feels that what a woman does is between herself and God.
If you alow religion to be mixed with politics, then we will no longer have a democracy.
Bush is trying to push his religion on us, and yet he claims to be speading democracy around the world.

Why not let God be the Judge?
Darrell,
Bush is for the death penalty. People who get the death penalty committed a crime. They usually took another life.. It's justice..
You take a life your life is forfiet. Makes perfect sense to me.
The baby in the womb is INNOCENT. What part of that don't you get.? The mother that wants an abortion is usually someone who was too lazy to use birth control or Self control. Abortion is used as a form of birth control. The baby has a heart beat at 18 days and Brain waves at 42 days of development. That is a medical, scientific fact. If the absense of a heart beat and brain waves constitutes the legal definition of DEATH then shouldn't the presence of both constitute the legaldefinition of LIFE...
George Bush is for Justice in the case of the death penalty and for protecting Innocent lives by being against abortion...
John Kerry is against justice because he would have a murderer sit in Jail getting 3 squares a day and a bed for the rest of their lives..
And John Kerry is willing to let woman murder their own innocent babies....
Now that is illogical to me ...
See I made a logical argument and did not say a word about religion or God....
