Today is Martin Luther King day and I think the day requires some introspection. We live in a world dominated by violence and war and I think King’s legacy is a story that should be told to our children and our world.
The key difference between Martin Luther King and others, such as Malcolm X, is King’s dedication to peaceful resistance and his sincere belief that without violence he could achieve the impossible. Yes, King was a great orator and a brilliant speechwriter. But more than that, he was a man who trusted in God to change the world through his peaceful protests. I don’t think modern America understands the strength that King wielded through this quiet refusal to back down. Thank God for giving us such a man.
Personally, I still think we have far to go in order to discover King’s dream, but the strides he made in the too few years he was here are an unbelievable testament to his faith. Here is a key part of his famous dream speech given at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal." I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose governor's lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today. I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together. This is our hope. This is the faith with which I return to the South. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
In today’s world, we need a Martin Luther King, Jr. who can speak so eloquently and fight so fiercely for the unborn. May God send us one soon.
God bless,
Jay

I think if MLK Jr. was alive today he would definately be a part of this, http://blackgenocide.org/
rather than the ridiculous Jesse Jackson camp that speaks out of both sides of their mouth, lying from each.

Holloway,
God gave us the intelligence to discern that pro-abortion political figures are incorrect. Yes, we shouldn't attempt to judge the private sin of others, but the embrace of something as horrendous as abortion cannot be tolerated. We should all recognize the issue and respond as Jesus would.
God bless,
Jay
JAY, IF YOU WANT TO RESPOND LIKE JESUS THAT MEAN YOUR WILLIING TO FORGIVE A PERSON. AND GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE THAT WHAT JESUS WOULD DO. BUT YOUR NOT JESUS SO I SHOULD NOT EXPECT THAT OF YOU. FOR YOU TO BE SAVE YOU ARE SO QUICK TO JUDGE OTHER. IT NO DIFFERENT BETWEEN ABORTION,KILLING,AND RACISMS. IT ALL THE SAME THING WHEN HURTING THE MIND OF OTHER. JAY YOU THINK YOUR THE LAW BUT YOU SHOULD NEVER SAY NOTHING ABOUT JESUS UNLESS YOU HAVE HIS HEART AND FORGIVING WAYS. YOU MUST BE A CATHOLIC BECAUSE YOU GUYS ARE ALWAYS QUICK TO JUDGE SOMEONE. I THINK THE BIBLE SAID TAKE CARE OF YOU AND THE HELP OTHER AS NEEDED. SO IF YOU WANT TO TALK ISSUES LET TALK ABOUT HELPING YOUR PRIEST AND GETTING THEM WHERE THEY NEED BE. THAT IN LINE WITH THE WORD OF GOD. SEE YOU NEED A LITTLE MORE TEACHING AND STOP READING ALL OF THESE OTHER BOOKS.
Holloway,
You are the one placing judgement; you're trying to tell me I'm not like Jesus because I condemn abortion? Are you really serious? Remember, Jesus drove the moneychangers out of the temple with a whip. Just because you like a politician doesn't mean you should attack others because they point out a big fault of his! Don't fall into the trap: any politician that endorses abortion is in grave danger for his soul. We have an obligation to point to the truth; we have an obligation to help protect the lives of the unborn. By supporting pro-abortion politicians, you enable them to destroy the lives of infants!
God bless,
Jay
Also Halloway remember Jesus forgives when we ask for forgiveness, repent, and change our ways. Otherwise, there would be no need for Hell because no matter what we do or say, we would be forgiven by God automatically.

Silvia,
I agree with you. An interesting note I discovered... MLK was inspired by Ghandi who was inspired by GK Chesterton who was inspired by the Catholic church who is the bride of Christ.
