A Critique of Peter Jackson's Interpretation

Lord of the Rings is the perfect book trilogy. It captures the essence of Catholicism without ever mentioning God and while keeping the action flowing. Now we finally have all three movies on film, so what's the consensus? Here's an interesting critique of the movies that I tend to agree with. It's a well written review by someone who has actually read the books. Note: I have yet to see the third film, but Mr. Last is dead on in terms of the first two.

On a personal note, I understand that the books must be changed somewhat as they are transferred to film. I think I give a significant amount of leeway in this respect. But it ticks me off when the director corrupts pure characters for no obvious reason. And I think it says something about the director. I'll post a review once I've seen the third film, but now I'm worried . . .

I wonder what Quenta Narwenion (another Tolkien nut) thinks.

God bless,
Jay

PS - If you haven't read the books, use one of your Christmas gift certificates to get them. You won't be disappointed.

Oh! I was angry about how they changed Faramir in TTT, too! I liked the third film, but it seems like Jackson just made that whole family into hollow characters. I didn't think the extended version of TTT made Faramir come out looking much better, either.

Hey,
I have read all 3 books and I've seen all 3 movies. They are my favorite movies in the whole world and of course the books are my favorite books. I know that it sucks that the movies can't be exactly like the books but that's the way it is. It would be way to long of a movie if it was exactly like the book and some of the things would be impossible to do. So, you shouldn't complain because everyone who had something to do with these movies put in a lot time and a lot of effort so that you would be entertained, and I think that you should be thankful for that. That's all I got to say and I support Peter Jackson on how he made these movies.

Hail to Peter Jackson and his fantastic crew! This man is a God and Tolkien would has been proud of what bacame of his wonderful masterpiece! So once more Pete Jackson deserves a crown, for he is a Lord of the directors!Bless u all!:)

BTW,does anyone has Pete's post address ,pls,I would be grateful if u give it to me!

Let;s face it, nothing PJ did, ruined the films in the long run. In the long run, Fairmere turned out good, in the long run, Sam and Frodo ended up still friends, in the long run, the movies were great. They put a lot of effert into these movies, they deserve some credit.

Peter the movies are cool. I read the three books and saw the three movies. They were awsome, I have all the DVDs and I watch them over and over agian and I spotted two mistakes in the Fellowship of the Ring.

1. In Rivendell frodo goes on the balcany and leans on the railing, but the railing is half the size of the hobbit that make the railing about two feet high.

2. When Aragon defeats the leader Uruk he goes to Boromir and a dead Uruk lifts his head up few inches of the ground and takes a little peek then his head is back on the ground.

Sorry for writing this in public. I couldn't find your e-mail address
