Help Wanted: Faithful Catholic Bloggers
I think we need to put out a plea for help. Just wandering around the blogosphere a little tells you how honest this statement is: we need more faithful Catholic bloggers. There are some out there – Patrick Sweeney and Mark Shea, for example, but we still lack quantity – the key to our evangelization efforts.
Currently there are tons of anti-Catholic bloggers and more unfaithful Catholic bloggers than you would believe; in fact, probably the most well-known Catholic blog out there is a homosexual Catholic who rages against the Church on a daily basis (he’ll get no link from me). Granted blogging is a new arena, which suggests it will take time to gain new adherents, but someone should talk to Scott Hahn (I’ll personally code his site gratis – just for the honor of having him online), Stephen Ray, and the other muscular converts who really have something to add to the online dialogue.
However, it doesn’t stop there: why aren’t you blogging? Talk about an easy way to do a little work for heaven, just espouse Catholicism as Christ intended and you’ll be amazed by the lives you touch. The Pope is calling for a New Evangelization and this is your big chance. As Chesterton famously wrote: “If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly.” So don’t worry if you aren’t the most able writer or don’t worry you may get something wrong (we obviously don’t). To start is half the journey. Feel free to comment on this message or email me and I’ll be glad to direct you to resources.
Oh – and someone get a hold of Scott Hahn! The blogosphere needs him!
Jay
PS – Hahn was a major force in my conversion, hence the hero-worship! ;-)

Hello, just dropping in to say like the site, and to say that I've actually been surprised by the number of Catholic bloggers out there.

Posted by: jesus gil at August 14, 2003 06:37 AMThere are hundreds of faithful Catholics more or less faithfully blogging, from every nook and cranny of the great ship of Faith. A good listing of us (though even it is not complete) can be found at http://praiseofglory.com/blogs/ which is the Great Catholic Blog List kept by Gerard Serafin.
Good and faithful Catholics like Gerard Serafin of the Blog for Lovers, Steven of Flos Carmeli, Alicia of Fructus Ventris, Sean the Russian Catholic at Swimming the Tiber, Sean of Nota Bene, Athanasius the Melkite Catholic of Summa Contra Munda, and so many others.

I for one am not sure exactly what you mean by "faithfull Catholic".I am Catholic, who can deny it?but I am in dire need of reconciliation and of grace;I drink too much; I am tempted to all kind of adulterous activities;in short I am a sinner like all of us.I could,I suppose, say that for all my moral shortcomings,at least I am no child molester,no spouse abuser, and that, other than in my heart I have never commited adultry so I must be under grace, but to compare myself to other sinners smacks of moral relativism and would seem to me to hve more to do with social standing than with grace.
My deepest impulse,if it can be called that, is towards confession and not towards conforming my outer being to a life style acceptable to social concervatives. What is required(I am speaking for myslf)is not a socialy concervative life style but a contemplative life style.
I would like to comment about a "faithful Catholic". I do agree that we are all sinners. I try real hard not to judge someone because they choose to not go to communion at Mass. I choose not to go to communion sometimes because I am not in God's grace. Some people may say, "What sin did he commit to prevent him from going to communion?" That is only between me and God.No one else needs to know. I cannot judge anyone else either. We are a house of sinners and hypocrites. So we need to keep invting all these other hypocrites and sinners. But you know what, as long as we are trying to follow Jesus "narrow way", he will continue to give us grace and forgive. We just need to go to confession and ask for His forgiveness.
You say that you are not a bad person on the outside. that is great. I have been there also. I was good on the outside but a sinner on the inside. Now I am working on the inside and trying to prevent myself from sinning on the inside. I believe that is what God wants out of me.It will not be easy to do this part but just do what Jesus did on the road to Cavalry. When you fall, get up, carry your cross, and move on. For us that will mean also going to confession.BY the way, I am still a sinner on the inside but I am working to change that with God's help and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
The truth the Catholic Church stands for is not easy. We have to continue to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to send us God's grace and wisdom to follow the "narrow way" no matter how hard it maybe. It is also very against cultural ways. We need strength and perseverance, gifts also of the Holy Spirit. I say, don't give up. Continue to pray and ask for this wonderful grace. Then you will understand what it means to be a "faithful Catholic. I'll pray for you that this happens.
God's Peace
